RIP: the Billions

This last Saturday, my band of 13 years – the Billions – played our last show together. Needless to say, it was a little emotional. More than sentimental cheesiness though, it was a great close to a decade-long string of awesome, life-changing experiences. Yesterday and today, myself and the other band members have been e-mailing back and forth talking about how happy we were with how the show turned out (250 people came and almost bought us out of merchandise!) and how thankful we were to have the experiences we had with the band. We never ‘made it’, but – ironic how these realizations always come after-the-fact – all of us now realize that ‘making it’ was not why we did it. We did it because we loved what we were doing.

All of the quirks and inconsistencies in the Billions attitudes and albums that bothered me for so many years finally made sense to me on Saturday night. Thanks to everyone that came out and made that night special. We hope some of the magic we experienced on stage was passed on and we hope everyone can remember the Billions the way we remember it.
